Cinema Under The Stars

Celebrate the beginning of the new year at Nelson Bay. Newcastle’s Cinema Under the Stars outdoor cinema program arrives in January. There’ll be family-friendly activities prior to the show – and it’s a free event!

Easter long weekend Blues, Brews and barbecues

Stay at Koala Shores on the Easter long weekend and have an egg-cellent time at Port Stephens’ annual Easter Blues and Brews festival. Visitors can enjoy local treats such as Murray’s Chocolate Easter Egg Beer and its famous Hot Cross Bun Beer! Dance along to the free blues concert and bring the kids for face painting and Easter-themed arts and craft.

Nature lovers and visitors to Australia rejoice – this is your event! Celebrate the beauty of Port Stephens, the wonder of our natural environment and Australian coastal fauna and flora. See koalas, pat a kangaroo, take a beach walk, discover scenic mountain bike trails, or climb the Tomaree Headland. There will also be a photo competition and the unique opportunity to become part of a human whale!

Love Seafood

What kind of coastal town would we be if we didn’t celebrate our fresh and delicious seafood at some point in the year? This month-long celebration is a foodie’s delight and a nod to the people who catch our seafood. There’ll be celebrity chefs and cooking demonstrations, a family festival with rides and live entertainment and of course, plenty of opportunities to sample the local culinary wares.

Clans On The Coast is a fun-filled, Celtic-inspired festival. Watch traditional dancing, highland games, pipe bands, and tour market stalls at the Tomaree Sports Oval in Nelson Bay.

The World Surf League Women’s Qualifying Series culminates at Birubi Beach, Port Stephens. Many of the world’s leading female surfers try out for the top spot on the 2018 Elite Championship Tour. It helps that Port Stephens is one of the most famed surf spots in Australia and a stunning region for spectator viewing.

Boomerang Park in Raymond Terrace, Port Stephens is lit up for this free, family-friendly event. Lantern displays, skating, circus performers and food vans add to the community festival atmosphere, and a fireworks show provides a rousing finale.
